Card sort module on UserBit now allows researchers to create open studies! This means that participants can create their own categories if they feel like the cards presented to them don't fit in any of the pre-existing categories.
Creating an open card sort study

To create an open card sort study, simply pick the 'Open' option for the Study Type field... and that's it! Your participants can now create new categories during their session. This also works for existing card sort studies - you can switch the study type at any time.
So what does this look like for participants?

Participants can either drag cards into existing categories, or create new ones by dragging cards in the 'New category drop zone'.
Results for similar custom categories are merged by default
So what happens if many participants create the same category with slightly different letters/words? UserBit intelligently merges these categories to give you a more accurate sort results from your study.

You can always un-merge the results if you want to by switching the control off.
